Haylie and I spent a few days at Mendocino Grove while I photographed the property. It had that rare feeling of being completely away without actually being remote. Beneath the trees, it was quiet enough to forget about everything else. Then the town of Mendocino was just across the bridge whenever we wanted coffee, dinner, or a walk by the water.
Between shooting, we cooked over the fire, wandered through the grove, and watched the fog move between the redwoods. The mornings were slow, everything smelled like woodsmoke, and for a few days there was nowhere else we needed to be.
