New Orleans keeps its past close. At Peter & Paul, it lives in the plaster, the ironwork, the afternoon light through old glass. The building was a church once — then a school, a rectory — and something of that gravity never left. We moved through its rooms and courtyards slowly. You don't rush a place like this. We photographed what the city doesn't let you forget.
